Strong words have been mentioned from official sources. Although your author agrees that some situations require strong words - the same is true of words which encourage calm collective action and not panic. The most important idea the public should have is this is a dangerous situation but they should not panic. Take action now, secure all property, leave danger areas, and find a reliable safe shelter. Now is the time to take action.
According to instruments and satellite hurricane force winds have been detected out to 75 miles from the center of the storm. Surge is now impacting the Gulf as high water propagates from 3-16 feet above normal. This means some low lying areas and unprotected coastal areas will sustain moderate to heavy damage including flooding and debris being lifted by the surge.
Here is the latest hurricane information and maps. See below for links to interactive hurricane maps and tracking information. Anyone in the area should prepare for damage and flooding tonight. Have your supplies ready and a Weather Radio on. Listen to NOAA Weather Radio or your local media outlet for further weather information. Stay tuned!

This is actually a pretty cool idea from RadioShack. Under $10 dollars each, these micro robots have sensors that will aide them around obstacles. You can get them in different colors and they are powered by a small replaceable battery. Recommended for ages 8 and up available in multiple colors. Watch out because these could also scare people with their moving legs! Stop by your local store to see the other creatures they have.

Nearly every home has a computer or electronics, so why not protect them? One of the best investments you can make is to get a UPS system.
