If you like Legos and free stuff, we've got a cool look at a hobby that is becoming popular again. Best of all, we will tell you how to get a free magazine subscription (no purchase necessary) directly from Lego.com. Our look at this hobby also examines the history of Lego's as toys from popular culture. Legos are here to stay!

Fun for Everyone
legos
You can build just about anything. Some Legos are also worth a lot of money to collectors. This is a shot from the Lego Club comic strip featuring Lego comics and user creations.
Legos are no laughing matter; even the old people love them. In fact, in Orlando, FL there's a theme park based off of Legos. Since their creation sometime in the 1940's manufactured originally from Denmark, they have come a long way. Did you know that Lego is Danish for "play well?" You can find Legos in almost every retail store offering small building kits around 10 pieces all the way up to more expensive sets with hundreds of pieces. In general, these are recommended for ages 8 and up because the size of the Legos may be a choking hazard for infants. In fact, people are getting so creative that they are using special software that tells them which Lego blocks to use. Other software including Lego games cost money including the popular gaming console titles which run on PS3 or Xbox360 platforms. Not to worry, we've got a free software title for you if you like creating with Legos.

LEGOLAND
We're not kidding when we said there's a Lego theme park. This is an actual 150 acre theme park in Winter Haven, Florida with over 50 rides. There's enough fun to take a big chunk out of your day if you're ever in the area. Here's an actual map of the park (check LegoLand out) if you want to plan a trip. It does cost for admission, but depending on how much you like Legos, it might be worth it. This park is primarily for kids under 12, but everyone is welcome.

Free Software
For those of you who want to try and build Legos virtually without buying them, try this free Lego Digital Designer. Since this program is graphics intense, it's a good idea to only run it on Windows7. You can zoom in, view you're creations in 360 degrees, and more. You can download this free software here (visit download site) from Download CNet. One thing is for sure, Legos are expensive. Using this program lets you virtually play with Legos without actually buying the sets.

Get Creative & Free Lego Comic Book/Magazine
Anything is possible with Legos because they've created so many pieces, even moving robotic parts. You can create small things, or life-sized models. We have to give it to the creators of Legos for making a memorable toy that has become such a steady name in entertaining toys that actually let people think with endless possibilities at all ages. If you're interested, Legos is offering a free "Lego Club" comic book/magazine. You must supply your address to them obviously, but the comic book is worth it. The magazine offers comic strips, special offers, user submitted photos of creations (spectacular), and more, all for free (join Lego Club). No purchase is necessary to get the free publication.

This is actually a pretty cool idea from RadioShack. Under $10 dollars each, these micro robots have sensors that will aide them around obstacles. You can get them in different colors and they are powered by a small replaceable battery. Recommended for ages 8 and up available in multiple colors. Watch out because these could also scare people with their moving legs! Stop by your local store to see the other creatures they have.
